GARBAGE PAIL KIDS 2014 SKETCH CARDS

For the Garbage Pail Kids 2014 Series 1 I drew 250 sketch cards (200 regular shaped sketch cards, and 50 garbage can shaped sketch cards). Like the Brand New Series 3 sketch cards I did in 2013, I did different characters for each one and did not repeat any of the ones I did before with two exceptions (I repeated Bloody Mary from the first set in the card where Nasty Nick is attempting to drink the blood squirting from her finger, and Nasty Nick appears again as the Tom Bunk card back version).

Here are the scans of all 250 sketch cards. This time I added color to some of them. All of the sketch cards were drawn in ink and colored pencil.

GARBAGE PAIL KIDS MAGNETS 2012

The new Garbage Pail Kids magnet series has finally arrived in stores. This is the fist ever GPK all-magnet set. It includes 16 magnets (12 brand new kids) and comes with 2 gummy candies per package.

The box is really neat. I usually try to buy out the last packs in a box so the store will let me take it home. I've got the boxes from most of the GPK series so far.

There are four different wrappers for this series and each one has one of the classic GPKs from the the old series. Each pack also contains the card of the character shown on the wrapper. I thought that was pretty neat. Also, I don't know if it is true in every case but I found that you can complete the whole set by just buying one of each of the four different packs. It worked for me. This was quite different from previous GPK series where I ended up with hundreds of "doubles" attempting to complete an entire base set.

The back of each card pack has the checklist and nutrition facts and stuff.

I found there are three different types of gummy candy (heart, severed foot, and eyeball). There are two in each pack and come individually wrapped.

The best things about this set are first of all the old series look with simple backgrounds and the original Cabbage Patch spoof look that was seen in those cards from my childhood. Second of all I like the ease of completing a set without having to buy a whole box full. It's a refreshing change especially for a tightwad like me.

The first four magnets in the set are from the old series GPKs (Adam Bomb and Potty Scotty from series 1, Ghastly Ashley from series 2, and Beasty Boyd from series 9) the rest are new concepts painted by Mark Pingitore #5-16. I posted scans of the cards along with his original artwork from his Facebook page.

I always wonder how they keep coming up with new ideas for Garbage Pail Kids. I swear they have done everything you can think of and have even doubled and tripled certain ideas. There is some nice fresh stuff in this set.

Go out and buy some. They look great on the refrigerator.
